GOAL: The Movie brought in an estimated $675,000 on its opening day in the United States. The Buena Vista movie tells the story of a Mexican immigrant who’s spotted by a football scout in Los Angeles and makes the journey to play for Newcastle United in the Premiership.

Despite the fact that GOAL: The Movie is only on 1,007 screens in America, the film had the eighth highest movie gross on Friday according to Box Office Mojo.

New film Poseidon was the number two film surpassed by the popular Mission Impossible 3 film.
