David Beckham and his oldest son Brooklyn escaped serious injury after they were involved in a car crash earlier today.
Beckham, 39, had just picked up his 15-year-old son when his car was involved in a collision outside of the London Colney training centre. The two were spared serious injuries because the car’s airbags deployed, and reports state that both were able to walk away from the incident.
Eyewitness accounts say that Beckham’s Audi was left damaged on the driver’s side and that the driver of the other car had been travelling at ‘quite a speed’.
The British newspaper The Telegraph quoted a source close to the Beckham’s who said: “They were shaken. it was quite a heavy prang at quite a speed but everybody walked away uninjured. Everybody’s fine. Thankfully the car’s airbags deployed.”
Brooklyn Beckham plays for the Arsenal U-16s and had just finished a match against Brighton’s U-16’s. The teenager was signed by the Gunners on a short-term contract earlier this month after impressing the coaching staff.
His younger brother Romeo, 12, plays for Arsenal’s U-13s; while the youngest of the boys, Cruz, represents the Gunners U-10s.
The British tabloid The Daily Mail notes that this incident is David Beckham’s second car accident in just over a year. In October 2013, the former Manchester United and LA Galaxy player was involved in an accident when pulling out of his driveway in Beverly Hills.
