Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract extension has brought a sense of stability to Al Nassr, with the club now focused on building a competitive squad around the Portuguese superstar for the upcoming season. In their latest move, the Saudi Pro League side is reportedly set to hire a familiar face to Ronaldo—one who also previously managed Neymar.

Following a trophyless season, Stefano Pioli, who took over Al Nassr in September 2024 after his stint at AC Milan, has parted ways with the club. The team is now preparing to bring in a new manager as part of its broader restructuring efforts.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus has agreed to become Al Nassr’s new head coach. Jesus, who previously led Al Hilal to the Saudi Pro League title and multiple domestic cups, is expected to bring his experience and winning pedigree to a club still searching for silverware during the Ronaldo era.

Jesus briefly coached Neymar at Al Hilal before recurring injuries derailed the Brazilian’s time in Saudi Arabia. Despite attempts to integrate Neymar into the squad, setbacks ultimately led to the player’s dismissal and eventual return to Santos.

Crucially, the appointment of Jorge Jesus reportedly comes with Cristiano Ronaldo’s full backing. The coach is expected to sign a two-year deal—matching the length of Ronaldo’s new contract, which now runs through 2027—with the goal of leading Al Nassr to long-awaited titles.

Despite his unmatched goal-scoring record, Ronaldo’s time at Al Nassr has so far lacked the team trophies that have defined much of his career. In response, the club is doubling down on Portuguese leadership in hopes of finally delivering on expectations.

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, a wider organizational shake-up is in motion. With Ronaldo’s extension confirmed, longtime friend Jose Semedo is set to take over as technical director, Simao Coutinho will be named sporting director, and Jorge Jesus will guide the squad from the touchline—all part of a coordinated effort to steer Al Nassr toward sustained success.
