FC Barcelona has once again fallen short of reaching a Champions League final, suffering a painful elimination at the hands of Inter Milan. While Hansi Flick’s side managed to overcome a 2-0 deficit with a spirited second-half performance, a late goal from Acerbi and a subsequent extra-time setback ended the Blaugrana dream.

However, beyond the defeat, reports from El Nacional suggest that Robert Lewandowski‘s presence on the field has sparked significant discord within the dressing room. Several players are said to be unhappy with Flick’s decision to include the Polish striker, who was reportedly not fully fit, in the final minutes and throughout extra time.

Lewandowski’s performance under scrutiny

Sources close to the squad have indicated that these people believe that Lewandowski barely touched the ball. While he failed to capitalize on a clear-cut chance, and has not come into terms with what has caused a division amongst the players.

The gravity of the situation, according to internal sources, is that some players feel his inclusion wasn’t based on sporting merit, but rather on a perceived preferential treatment from the coach. The decision has resulted in the player to take a step back from the team, and to let others flourish.

Allegations of favoritism

Allegations of favoritism have surfaced, with some members of the first team reportedly complaining, in private, that the sole reason for Lewandowski’s continued presence in key matches is his personal friendship with Hansi Flick, dating back to their time together at Bayern Munich. The view within the dressing room is that Lewandowski receives a level of preferential treatment within the team, regardless of his form or contribution on the field. The bond that can not be destroyed.

Deception and calls for renewal

There is what might be disappointment and frustration with the performance as with Lewandowski himself within Barcelona. He says it’s time for all people to meet their end. With what might’ve been at the time with all those who have a better to have in the great that what will never know.

Many players in the team know of all those that get hurt, so they think its only right to remember what came, and to never let them go. What has been what to now may make for it? Doesnt do enough and it does so, or so they think. This made some of the team wonder what to do.
