5 new clubs were admitted to the US Development Academy Program, bringing the total to 79 for 2009.

The US Men’s U-20’s are grouped with Germany, Cameroon and South Korea in this fall’s U-20 World Cup. A tough group.

From MLSnet: “Montero also got back on the practice pitch after missing the team flight to Toronto with the flu.” That’s their story and they’re sticking to it.

Congrats to the Puerto Rico Islanders for their showing in the CONCACAF Champions League, the most important club competition north of South America(and west of Europe). That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Note: Cruz Azul will meet Atlante in the Final for the title and a trip to the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup.

Did anyone notice that MLS clubs started play in the 2009 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup? The Rapids eliminated the Galaxy on April 7 in a shootout after playing to a scoreless draw. Next up, defending champion DC United face FC Dallas on April 22.
