From the great runs of Cal FC, the Michigan Bucks, the wacky come from behind victory’s of the Harrisburg City Islanders to the amazing run of the Charlotte Eagles who in their history have never gotten past the third round, so many stories was written and hopefully next season will be better.

But once again excitement and drama came to the Quarterfinals of this seasons US Open Cup and sadly the comebacks or the forcing of extra time were cut short by those from the third division of US Soccer. Let’s talk about what happened with these two games.

PHILADELPHIA 5:2 HARRISBURG: Lionard Pajoy scored a brace along with the match winner in the 29th minute and converted a penalty in the 69th. Freddy Adu got the game rolling converting his penalty in the 6th with Jack McInerney converting three minutes later.

Down three goals at halftime you might have felt the comeback was dead for the City Islanders. But Brian Ombiji started the threat in the 51st minute and then Morgan Langley added his tally three minutes later. The nerves were going at PPL Park, but the contest would be over.

CHIVAS-USA 2:1 CHARLOTTE: This was an evenly contested game as the Charlotte Eagles were the last members of USL Pro to try and make an upset happen. They flew across the country to take on Chivas-USA to once again try to keep the upset train rolling on the tracks.

But it would be Jose Correa that would make sure that the Goats passage to the Semi-Finals would stay intact. Converted a tight angle shot in the 64th minute and it looked to be the only goal that would stand. But Mauricio Salles would convert the equalizer in the 89th minute.

It would seem to be that extra time was on its way hovering over Titan Stadium in Fullerton, California, but within the four minutes of second half stoppage time, Correa made sure his second of the night was going to put his side into the Semi-Finals and the last of the USL Pro teams were officially done.
