Zlatan Ibrahimović is now in the trailer for his film debut for the latest the French Asterix movie. Fittingly, he is a Roman conqueror that looks to be celebrating a victory. Soccer fans would expect no less from the man who once alluded to himself as God.

While the striker is known more for his past accomplishments, he does in fact still play. Zlatan is part of AC Milan, as he was last season when the Rossoneri won the Scudetto. Yet, he is more of a leadership player than someone who actually plays. In fact, he is yet to appear for AC Milan in the current campaign. Last season, he made 27 appearances across Serie A and the UEFA Champions League. He scored eight goals and assisted on three more.

The soon-to-be 41-year-old Swede has the cutout of someone who can go from sport to screen. Previously, Ibrahimović played for LA Galaxy, a moved that certainly accelerated his popularity in the United States. While his upcoming film debut is a French work, it is nonetheless a chance to appear on the screen. This expands his horizon for the future, with his playing days winding down.

The movie to have the honor of bringing Zlatan to theaters is Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom. This is the fifth installment of the Asterix and Obelix series. For those unfamiliar with the movies, the Asterix series is a comedy about Gaul warriors fighting the Roman Empire. It is not historically accurate by any means, although it does take place during the Roman empire.

The movie debuts in 2023, but the first trailer has soccer fans interested early on.

Zlatan Ibrahimović likely does not play too big of a role in the upcoming film. However, if the trailer is any indication, audiences will at least get some screen time from Sweden’s most recognizable soccer player. A cheeky little lob up with a helmet is something of a soccer skill. The use of it to knock a foe down, less useful in soccer.

However, if any player can pull it off, it would be Zlatan.
