Zambrano Out At Recre

Manolo Zambrano saw the writing on the wall after his side lost at the weekend in disheartening fashion against Málaga 4-0.  Prior to this match, the Boquerones (Anchiovies) were the team with the most water in their gunpowder in the entire league.  Prior to their match against Recre, they had only scored two goals in their first five matches, both of them were against Valladolid the week before.  The win against Recre shot them up in the standings distanced them significantly from the drop zone.

Recreativo after their season-opening win against last-place Betis has not been has only mustered up one goal in five matches, but at the same time has allowed 11 in the same time frame.   They currently find themselves keeping Sporting Gijón and Real Betis

Zambrano will be replaced by an oldie from their days in second division, Lucas Alcaráz.   Alcaráz was presented to the press at the Estadio Nuevo Colombino earlier this afternoon.  The latter was sitting on the Recreativo bench from 2000-2003 and was responsible for the team being able to obtain promotion into the Spanish First Division in his final year.
