Wrexham versus Man United tickets are now available as part of each club’s summer tour in 2023. Wrexham announced the friendly game is taking place at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, CA, the home of the San Diego Wave in NWSL. The stadium also houses the San Diego State University football team.

This high-profile clash comes on the back of historic seasons for both clubs. For Manchester United, the Red Devils won the Carabao Cup, and are in the semifinals of the FA Cup and the quarterfinals of the Europa League. Moreover, the club looks set to finish back in the Champions League spots, all in the first season under Erik ten Hag. He is leading Manchester United back across the Atlantic for the first time since 2018. However, this will not be the full United first team for the game against the Red Dragons. Instead, it is a combination of academy and youth players that are playing against Wrexham. Plus there’s the possibility of some United professionals being included. Having the third-best team in the Premier League play against a fifth-tier side would not exactly be balanced.

Yet, for a National League side that is vying for League Two promotion this season, Wrexham has a proud following in the United States. Much of that is a result of the club’s owners, movie and TV stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds. The documentary associated with the show, Welcome to Wrexham, is massively popular among American audiences, even those that do not follow soccer.

Now, fans of Manchester United and Wrexham will have a chance to see those clubs in action. This game, scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, is the first game United has announced of its tour. For Wrexham, this is the club’s first ever trip to the United States.

Wrexham vs Man United tickets available for San Diego game

Wrexham and Unted, despite having strong followings and being historic clubs, seldom play each other. Manchester United has been a mainstay in the top flight, while Wrexham floated around the lower divisions. The two clubs have only played five times in their history, and all have been in cup ties, where United won each time. Interestingly, that includes a two-legged tie in the European Cup Winners’ Cup, where United won 5-0 on aggregate.

Still, Manchester United playing Wrexham in the USA is the first time these two sides have met since the 1995 FA Cup Fourth Round. Manchester United won, 5-2.

This Stateside friendly is a chance for Americans to have the honor of watching these two historic clubs battle again. Even though it may not be the A-team for United, it should still be an entertaining watch.
