West Brom headed to Wembley

Christopher Harris

Kevin Phillips scored the lone goal to put the Baggies through to the final (4-2 on aggregate). Robert Koren was the architect of the goal with a brilliant cross that Phillips headed home. Jason Koumas was the game’s most influential player, creating several chances for himself, including a shot over the bar from 25 yards four minutes after the interval, and his colleagues with several precision crosses.

The final will be held on Monday, May 28th and should prove interesting as the clubs split the two matches between them this season with one win apiece. I’ll run the rule over the two sides next week in the buildup to the £60m winner-take-all match.
