Serie A Team Of The Week - Giornata 28

Simon Farnsworth

There are only 10 weeks left in the Serie A and now is the time where teams who want to move into a European spot must make their move. Same goes for teams that want to avoid relegation.  This week’s winner made a big move to avoid relegation.  Remember that the Serie A Team Of The Week played matches and/or made headlines during the claendar week of March 9 – 15. The winner is:

Associazione Calcio Chievo Verona

If Chievo continues its current form they should stay in Serie A.  Its been a tale of two seasons for Chievo.  The 2008 part of the season saw Chievo lose all but 5 matches winning only 2 of those 5 as they looked like a lock for relegation.   Since the calendar turned to 2009, Chievo has been a completely different team.  The Flying Donkeys have only lost once and are currently on a 3 game unbeaten streak.  If Chievo had performed better in ’08, they could be challenging for a European spot.  What’s done is done and hopefully for fans of Chievo this 3-0 road win versus Lazio will continue a good run of form that will keep them in the Serie A. Therefore, Associazione Calcio Chievo Verona wins the Week 28 Serie A Team Of The Week.
