Alfredo Di Stefano has died at the age of 88.

Widely regarding as one of the greatest soccer players of all time, Alfredo Di Stefano suffered a heart attack late last week, but seemed to be in stable condition, recovering at the hospital before he took a sudden turn for the worse and passed away today.

Players such as Pelé, Eusébio and John Charles described Di Stéfano as “the most complete footballer in the history of the game” The Real Madrid footballer made over 280 appearances for Real Madrid, helping them win the European Cup five seasons in a row during the 1950’s. In all five of those Cups, he scored in each match. And won the first ever European Cup for the club.

On the international stage, Di Stefano had the privilege to play for three different national teams — Argentina (the nation of his birth), Colombia and Spain
