Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United on the afternoon of New Years Day was the most-watched weekday match ever on NBCSN, drawing 721,000 viewers to the network. It was also the most-watched Premier League match on cable television since November 10 when Liverpool defeated Manchester City.
The first Premier League match of 2020 on NBC saw Liverpool earn a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur as 1.189 million viewers watched on English-language TV, the largest for a match on broadcast television of the 2019-2020 season so far.
beIN SPORTS’ largest audience of this new year came on January 4 for a match featuring two Catalan clubs — Barcelona and Espanyol — with beIN’s English and Spanish networks combining to average over 304,000 viewers.
Just two weeks after the conclusion of the 2019 Liga MX Apertura, Univision kicked off its coverage of the 2020 Clausura, broadcasting five matches of the opening round on their networks. Viewership for the first round peaked at 787,000 in Saturday’s late kickoff featuring Tigres and Atlético San Luis. Univision’s networks averaged 476,800 viewers during the opening round of the Clausura, up slightly from 463,667 for the opening round of the 2019 Clausura.
