As the European soccer season reaches its dramatic climax, one of Lionel Messi’s Argentina teammates — and a World Cup winner — has made headlines for his bold claim regarding the best midfielder in the world. Speaking candidly, he ranked a Real Madrid sensation ahead of some of the most electrifying young talents in the game.

But who exactly did he choose, and what makes this young star stand out in a generation teeming with extraordinary midfielders?

Rising admiration for Madrid marvel

In an interview with Sky Sports, Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister revealed his admiration for Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, placing him above the likes of Pedri and Jamal Musiala. Reflecting on his experiences playing against Europe’s finest talents, Mac Allister shared: “[Jamal] Musiala, I played against him in a friendly in my first season at Liverpool. Really good player. Quick, fantastic skills, very good [technically].”

He continued: “Pedri I think is in a very good moment right now. And Jude [Bellingham], of course I knew before that he was a really good player, but when I played against Real Madrid, I could see why. I was really surprised; physically he was really good, and his mentality as well, I think everyone can see.”

When pressed to rank the trio, Mac Allister didn’t hesitate: I’m going to put Jude first, Pedri second and Musiala third. Musiala can score and assist more than the others, but the highest ceiling I would say is Jude. That’s why he is first.”

Bellingham’s meteoric rise has captivated fans and pundits alike this season. His physicality, technical prowess, and maturity on the field have earned him acclaim across the globe, and Mac Allister’s praise only adds to the chorus recognizing the young Englishman’s incredible impact at Real Madrid.

What did Mac Allister say about Real Madrid rumors?

Beyond his admiration for Bellingham, Mac Allister also addressed growing speculation linking him to a move to the Spanish capital. With Liverpool battling for the Premier League title, the midfielder made his stance clear in an interview with TyC Sports.

“I read the rumors and I hear the news, but the present is what matters. Even if a club wants me, if I have a bad game on the weekend, they’ll lose interest,” Mac Allister said, emphasizing his focus on the here and now.

Since moving from Anfield from Brighton in 2023 for a fee of just $47 million, the Argentine has grown into a pivotal figure under Arne Slot. His understated excellence — marked by sharp passing, tempo control, and tactical intelligence — often flies under the radar, but within Liverpool’s system, he is irreplaceable.

“I’m happy at Liverpool and I don’t feel the need to go anywhere. I’ve got a lot of respect for the club and don’t think it’s right to be talking about other teams,” he reaffirmed, pouring cold water on any immediate transfer rumors.
