Kylian Mbappe has cemented his place as one of Paris Saint-Germain’s all-time greats, breaking numerous records and helping the club claim multiple trophies. Now at Real Madrid, the French superstar took a moment to recognize his former club’s historic first UEFA Champions League title after PSG’s emphatic 5–0 win over Inter Milan.
Mbappe’s departure from PSG was surrounded by controversy, including an ongoing legal dispute over unpaid bonuses and wages. The situation has escalated into a courtroom battle that remains unresolved. Still, despite the tension, Mbappe continues to show affection for the club that helped shape his career.
Following PSG’s dominant win in the final, Mbappé shared a heartfelt message on social media to congratulate the team and his former teammates: “The big day has finally arrived — victory, and in style, for an entire club. Congratulations, PSG!”
Mbappe came close to securing PSG’s first Champions League title during the 2019–20 campaign, when the team reached its maiden final. However, Kingsley Coman’s lone goal for Bayern Munich dashed those hopes, delaying the club’s European triumph until now.

Having already won a World Cup with France and a Golden Boot, Mbappe now has his sights firmly set on capturing the Champions League—one of the primary reasons behind his move to Real Madrid ahead of the 2024–25 season. Despite the manner of his departure and legal turmoil, it’s clear PSG still holds a special place in his heart.

Mbappe’s legacy at PSG
After bursting onto the scene with AS Monaco, Mbappe joined PSG on an initial loan in 2017 before the club completed a €180 million permanent transfer in 2018. Over his seven-year tenure, he failed to capture the elusive Champions League crown, but his individual impact was undeniable.
Mbappe leaves as PSG’s all-time leading scorer with 256 goals. He also holds club records for goals in Ligue 1 (175), domestic cup competitions (39), and the Champions League (42). Additionally, he registered the most assists (96) and appearances (308) in club history.
The French forward also remains the second-most expensive signing in soccer history—only behind Neymar, who joined PSG from Barcelona in 2017 for a world-record €222 million.
