Garnacho not included by Ruben Amorim in Manchester United: Where will the young Argentine star go?

One of soccer’s most historic clubs is facing one of its darkest chapters. Manchester United is in the middle of a full-blown crisis, plagued by mediocre performances, poor form, and disastrous results throughout the season. The damage goes beyond the pitch—it affects the club’s institutional standing as well. Their golden era now feels like ancient history, and after losing the UEFA Europa League final to Tottenham, the outlook for the future looks increasingly bleak.

United’s Premier League campaign was one of the worst in decades. They finished the season without a single trophy and, more significantly, failed to qualify for any European competition next season—not the Champions League, Europa League, or even the Conference League. It’s a devastating blow for a club of such stature, especially as Liverpool, this year’s league champion, has now tied them with 20 English league titles, sharing the record as the country’s most successful domestic team.

Starting over — But not on the sidelines

Massive changes are expected at Old Trafford—but not in the manager’s seat. According to The Athletic, Rúben Amorim has told the squad that he will remain as head coach. Based on an earlier report from The Mirror suggesting that the entire squad is up for sale, The Athletic now claims that Alejandro Garnacho will be the first player shown the door. The Argentine international has already been told to find a new club and was left out of the matchday squad against Aston Villa. It’s clear: Garnacho has played his last game for Manchester United.

The winger, who just a month ago was seen as untouchable due to his strong form, now finds himself out of favor. His post-match comments after the Bilbao defeat may have been the tipping point: “Our season was shit. We didn’t beat anyone in the league. I played every round up to the final, and today I only got 20 minutes. I’ll enjoy the summer and we’ll see what happens.”

Family fallout and public clash

Garnacho’s brother and agent, Robert, also vented on social media:
“Working like a pro, helping in every game, scoring in the last two finals, just to be thrown under the bus with only 19 minutes? Wow.”

Coach Amorim didn’t hesitate to respond in the press room: “Easy to say now. Who missed the clear chance in the semifinal? Garnacho. That’s soccer.”

The rift is out in the open, and their futures will clearly diverge. Meanwhile, Napoli is circling, hoping to lure the Argentine forward as tensions boil over in Manchester.
