In what could become one of the most eye-catching transfers of the 2025/2026 season, Darwin Núñez is reportedly set to leave Liverpool for Al Hilal, a move that would place him in the same league as Cristiano Ronaldo, setting up a potential showdown in the Saudi Pro League.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Núñez has already reached a verbal agreement with Al Hilal. While personal terms still need to be finalized, the salary is reportedly settled. Liverpool, fully aware of the negotiations, is expecting an offer close to €65 million, a figure the Saudi club appears ready to meet.
“Exclusive: Al Hilal is closing in on the signing of Darwin Núñez after a verbal agreement with Liverpool. The deal between clubs is done, while Al Hilal is in talks with Darwin on personal terms. It now depends on Núñez’s decision. Talks are progressing—Inzaghi wants him,” Romano posted on August 6.
If finalized in the coming hours, Núñez would join Simone Inzaghi’s squad, who recently took over for Jorge Jesus ahead of Al Hilal’s run in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, the Saudi Pro League, the King’s Cup, and the AFC Champions League.

Liverpool’s forward options without Núñez
Should Núñez depart, Liverpool manager Arne Slot will still have several attacking options at his disposal. Mohamed Salah, Federico Chiesa, and Cody Gakpo remain key figures, while Hugo Ekitiké recently joined from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Promising winger Ben Doak is also back from his loan spell at Middlesbrough. The Reds may still make further signings before the transfer window closes on September 1.
