Chicago (AFP) – Colombia’s Copa America Centenario hopes suffered a blow here Wednesday after striker Carlos Bacca lost his battle to be fit for his team’s semi-final against Chile at Soldier Field.

The AC Milan striker was nursing a knock from his team’s bruising quarter-final win over Peru but had been hopeful of making the starting line-up.

Bacca was instead named amongst the substitutions with his place going to Racing Club’s Roger Martinez.

Defender Frank Fabra was the only other change in Jose Pekerman’s line-up, coming in for the injured Farid Diaz.

Chile meanwhile named a powerful side with the suspended Arturo Vidal replaced by defender Jose Pedro Fuenzalida.

The holders arrived in the semi-final brimming with confidence after destroying Mexico 7-0 in their quarter-final.

Teams:

Colombia: David Ospina, Cristian Zapata, Santiago Arias, Frank Fabra, Jeison Murillo, Daniel Torres, James Rodriguez, Edwin Cardona, Juan Cuadrado, Carlos Sanchez, Roger Martinez

Chile: Claudio Bravo, Mauricio Isla, Francisco Silva, Jose Pedro Fuenzalida, Gonzalo Jara, Pedro Pablo Hernandez, Jean Beausejour, Gary Medel, Charles Aranguiz, Alexis Sanchez, Eduardo Vargas
