Newcastle are poised to sign Tottenham and England winger Andros Townsend after the two clubs agreed a £12million (15.7million euros) deal, the Press Association reported on Tuesday.

Magpies managing director Lee Charnley was able to confirm the deal was going through after several rounds of talks between the two clubs during the transfer window.

Townsend, who was also being sought by Southampton, is believed to be keen to push through the move after falling out of favor with a member of head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s staff.
