Alexis Sanchez Believes Premier League Is Tougher Than La Liga And Serie A

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has told the club’s official website that he believes the Premier League is a tougher competition than La Liga and Serie A.

The question of ‘which league is better’ is the topic of an endless debate between fans of the European leagues. Although there is no straightforward way of gauging the strength of each country’s domestic competition, it won’t stop supporters from claiming theirs as the best.

For every Diego Costa and Angel di Maria – who have hit the ground running after switching leagues – there is a Roberto Soldado and Shinji Kagawa who struggled for consistency while playing for a new club in a different country.

Prior to his arrival at the Emirates, Alexis Sanchez spent time with Udinese in Italy and Barcelona in Spain. The Chilean international feels his playing history puts him in a good position to pass judgment on the respective leagues. Sanchez won the Copa del Rey, Spanish Supercopa, a UEFA Super Cup, a FIFA Club World Cup and a La Liga title while with Barcelona.

“Compared to other leagues I’ve played in this is the hardest but I really like it a lot, I really do,” he told the club’s official website.

“Before I signed, people had told me about how Arsenal were a big club with lots of quality players. Now I’m here I look at all the players during training and realize just what fantastic quality they all have.”

Although Sanchez has shown signs of being an impact player in Arsene Wenger’s side, the Chilean international has yet to put a string of standout appearances together for the North London club since arriving from Barcelona for a fee of £30 million. Regardless, the forward isn’t concerned with this adjustment period, he just wants to stay on the pitch as much as possible and help the Gunners win trophies.

“I can run and cut inside on my left foot, but any position is good for me as long as I’m playing football because I hate being on the bench. If you take me off it’s like you’re taking the ball off me.”

“I want to win everything. Looking at the coaches and players we have, with a winning attitude and ambition, we can win absolutely anything.”
