Many of the eyes on English soccer this weekend go to the Carabao Cup Final. Newcastle, without goalkeeper Nick Pope, takes on in-form Manchester United from Wembley. Those two teams fighting towards the top of the table are not in action in league play this weekend.
Perhaps that allows the opportunity for fans to turn their attention to the bottom. Whereas just over a week ago we had the top two teams in action, this weekend brings the bottom two teams in action. Leeds United in 19th hoses bottom of the table Southampton, which picked up a huge win last weekend at Stamford Bridge. The winner of this game has potential to get out of the relegation zone.
Fans also have the chance to watch a London clash between two teams going in opposite directions. Chelsea, which cannot seem to buy a positive result, sits 10th in the table. The Blues travel across London to take on Tottenham, which jumped Newcastle in the table this past weekend to get into that valuable fourth spot.
There are only eight games over the three days of this weekend in the Premier League as a result of the Carabao Cup (exclusively live on ESPN+ on Sunday 11:30AM ET). The four teams not in action are Manchester United and Newcastle, who had fixtures against Brentford and Brighton, respectively.
4K coverage
Only one game this weekend is in 4K, and that’s Sunday’s match between Spurs and Chelsea. 4K broadcasts are available via DirecTV and fuboTV, among others.
