World Cup Final Featured On Newspaper Front Covers Around the World [PHOTOS]

World Cup Final day finds the two nations’ newspapers in different moods. German newspapers express a brazen confidence while underdog Argentina harps on hope, prayer, and dreams.

Frankfurter Allgemeine (above)has the most distinctive front page of the day.  No words are necessary, just a closeup of the national teams shirt bearing a crest ringed by four stars.

Contrast the sublime simple beauty of the Frankfurter Allgemeine front page with that of the Hamburger Morgenpost. It tries to convey the same message but doesn’t succeed as well.

Bildproudly proclaims that “this is the day” that “the trophy is ours!”

A magnificently-permed Rudi Voller appears behind today’s team as they play “the game of their lives” on Die Welt’s front page.

Die Tageszeitung offers a stark portrait of Jogi Low with words befitting a medieval king about to go off to battle, “Target the title. But Long Live the Game”

Ole thinks Heaven’s good grace will be on their side. They note that while Germany are the favorites, Argentina will play like “a pack of wolves.”

Unoputs Messi in a Christ the Redeemer pose ready to receive the hopes of the 100,000 Argentines who have gathered in Rio and the millions back home.

Diario Popular demands that Argentina “bring” the trophy home. The paper also teases that they have ways of protecting the team from “bad vibes.”

On the cover of el Colombiano newspaper, there’s an interesting picture of Lionel Messi and Thomas Muller on a very green pitch with their respective national team crests next to them. It’s simple but highlights just what we’re about to see today.

Zero Hora published in Porto Alegre, Brazil, previews the match with Messi on one side and the German National Team on the other, seemingly ready to take him on.

Canada’s Toronto Sun’s headline is very appropriate, “Clash of the Titans”.

Austria’s Neue Vorarlberger Tageszeitung goes through the stats surrounding the game. The fouls, the money spent, the tickets sold, the hours played, everything is covered as Neue remembers the whole tournament, not just today’s game.

The United Evening News in Taipei, Taiwan takes Muller and Messi and surrounds them with statistics from their games. The colorful front cover does a great job of showing the excitement surrounding the final.

While Frankfurter Allgemeine showed off Germany’s shirt, el Territorie took a similar idea, but this time for Argentina. The headline reads “Put it on.”
