The German SuperCup will mark the opening of the Bundesliga/DFB Pokal 2016-17 season this Sunday. US TV and streaming rights for all Bundesliga matches, as well as the Super Cup, belong to FOX Sports while the German Cup competition – DFB Pokal – is exclusive to ESPN. Unlike many domestic cup competitions, all top division teams participate from the start of the DFB Pokal competition and are even made to play on the road to add a level of difficulty to their advancement.
Last season, FOX Sports have sub-licensed up to 5 Bundesliga matches per round to GolTV. The agreement is for Spanish-language commentary only and does NOT include Internet/streaming rights. This means that services such as fuboTV do not show the Bundesliga matches shown on GolTV. All Bundesliga matches are streamed exclusively on FOX Soccer 2GO. It is unclear at this time if the GolTV sub-licensing deal will be extended into the 2016-17 season.
For the month of August, FOX Soccer 2GO is offering a free 7-day trial.
