With the 2015 Women’s World Cup well underway in Canada, soccer fans from all over the world are tuning in to catch the matches using multiple outlets. Although many viewers in the US will go the old-fashioned route and watch the games on television (FOX owns the English-language TV rights), there are other ways to watch the Women’s World Cup matches live.
Here are several Women’s World Cup coverage options you didn’t know existed:
1. Spanish-language broadcasts
For Spanish-language fans, or perhaps people in general that are tired of the FOX commentators, NBC Universo (DirecTV channel 410, Verizon FiOS channel 275 and AT&T U-verse channel 192) is televising games with Spanish commentators. Viewers can also watch the network’s new sports show, Escena Deportiva, following the matches to catch match highlights as well.
2. Tactical Cam and Match 360° Cam
Many people are also choosing to stream matches on their computers/phones/tablets. FOX Sports Go is carrying the games in English and can be accessed by anyone with an AT&T U-Verse, COX, DirecTV, Time Warner, Verizon FiOS, or select other television providers.
But did you know that in addition to featuring the main TV feed via FOX Sports GO, you can also select a Tactical Cam or Match 360° Cam for a completely different perspective.
The FOX Sports GO Tactical Cam shows you the camera view from behind the goal, so you can see the entire field, and get a perspective of how players are positioning themselves off camera. Unfortunately on the day we took the screen grab below, the camera lens would have appreciated a quick wipe to remove the rain that was bucketing down.
While the Tactical Cam has a practical use, the Match 360° Cam would only be for the diehards who are looking to supplement their TV viewing experience with some additional footage. The Match 360° Cam features close-ups and replays of action and the people involved in the game. See below.
If you haven’t used FOX Sports GO before or you want to see the two cams, here are the steps:
- Visit www.foxsportsgo.com
- Click “Sign In” at the top right corner of the screen.
- Select your television provider.
- Fill in your appropriate email address and password.
- Select a match or program in which you want to watch.
3. NBC Sports Live Extra
Did you know that NBC Sports Live Extra is broadcasting the games? Neither did we until now.
NBC Sports Live Extra is covering every Women’s World Cup game, but in Spanish-language only. However, the NBC stream is a solid choice for some as it can be more reliable than FOX Sports GO and is available on Roku and Apple TV, unlike FOX Sports GO.
4. The only legal option for cord cutters
For the millions of cord cutters out there, the only way to (legally) watch the tournament is via FOX Soccer 2Go. The app is streaming every match of the tournament and can be found here.
5. Live on Sirius XM FC
Radio listeners can tune in to Sirius XM to catch many of the games as well. SiriusXM FC, channel 94 has announced that they will broadcast every single match of the tournament, from the group stage to the final using the FOX Sports play-by-play feed.
No matter how you decide to watch/listen to the 2015 Women’s World Cup, there are certainly plenty of ways to catch the action. If this week’s matches are any indication of how the rest of the tournament will fare, soccer fans are in for a real treat.
