Arsenal are firmly in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over the potential transfer of Mykhailo Mudryk. The Ukrainian club’s CEO confirmed the discussions on Thursday. Sergei Palkin even claimed that he would be talking with Gunners officials five minutes after giving the interview.

“Negotiations are continuing,” Palkin said on Thursday. “We receive offers, but they are not the ones we would like to see on our table.”

“Now, literally in five minutes, I will have a phone conversation with Arsenal,” continued Palkin. “We are open to negotiations, ready to exchange ideas and figures. If we will agree, then let it be so. If we will not, then let it be another time.”

Arsenal sending another bid to Shakhtar for Mudryk

The previous offer that Palkin referred to was by the Gunners earlier in the week. Arsenal submitted a proposal of around $42 million with $21 million more in add-ons if certain stipulations were met. Shakhtar rejected this proposition because on structure and total money offered.

Sky Sports is claiming that the Ukrainian team wants more than $100 million for their star player. It seems unlikely that the Gunners would stretch their money all the way to this amount. However, a final valuation could be agreed by both parties somewhere between the two figures.

Ukrainian has scored some impressive goals

Mudryk is widely considered to be one of the most electric young players in Europe. An extremely pacy wide player, the 21-year-old forward has already racked up seven goals and six assists in Ukraine’s Premier League. The winger also has performed in the Champions League as well. He currently has three goals and two assists in the European competition.

The Ukraine international made headlines on Monday as he posted himself watching Arsenal play West Ham on his tablet. Mudryk even previously claimed that he could not say no to joining the Gunners. With the player obviously keen on a move, Arsenal fans will hope that their club can complete the signing.
