Just as we’re getting back into the swing of Premier League action again, an international break beckons. The next Saturday we’ll have filled with Premier League matches is two weeks away, so savor today as much as you can.
Six matches are on deck today:
Manchester City vs Sunderland, 7:45am, ESPN2/ESPN3.com
Chelsea vs Norwich, 10am, FOX Soccer
Wigan vs Everton, 10am, FOX Soccer Plus and FOX Soccer 2Go
West Brom vs QPR, 10am, FOX Soccer 2Go
Swansea vs Reading, 10am, FOX Soccer 2Go
West Ham vs Arsenal, 12:30pm, FOX Soccer
There’s a little something for everyone today. Manchester City will be tired after their midweek run-out against Borussia Dortmund, so this will be Sunderland’s best chance perhaps all season to get a point at the Etihad Stadium.
Norwich have something to prove against Chelsea, but even if the Canaries are firing on all cylinders, it’s hard to imagine them winning at Stamford Bridge.
With Wigan, I wouldn’t be surprised if they shock everyone and get something out of their game against Everton.
West Brom versus QPR should be a pretty even game. QPR will bounce back, but it’s their defensive weaknesses I’m concerned about.
Swansea against Reading is anyone’s game. It’ll be an excellent test to see what both sides are made of, and how good (or not) Swansea are. After difficult matches against Aston Villa, Everton and Stoke, Reading is a team that Swansea can feel they can score against. They better.
Last but not least, Arsenal travel to Upton Park, a tricky ground to get a win especially when it’s a London derby. It’ll be interesting to see the impact of Andy Carroll, and whether Lukas Podolski can do it again for the Gunners.
