Post Match Interviews With Roberto Mancini and Carlos Tevez (Video)

Christopher Harris

The news that Carlos Tevez refused to play for Manchester City last night is still unbelievable to think about especially for a professional footballer who gets paid a princely sum each week.

The seriousness of the issue can best be witnessed by the words and body language of Carlos Tevez and Roberto Mancini. As you can see from the following videos, the differences between the attitudes of Tevez and Mancini are quite remarkable. Tevez acts like a spoiled child, smirking at the question in English and then letting another man communicate his words. Words that are empty and that don’t take any accountability. Mancini on the other hand is incensed. He acts like a father whose child has let him down, and throws up his hands as if there’s nothing more he can do.

After living in England for five years, you would think that Tevez would be comfortable enough answering a question in English, wouldn’t you?

Meanwhile, here is Tevez’s statement regarding the events from last night:

“I would like to apologise to all Manchester City fans, with whom I have always had a strong relationship, for any misunderstanding that occurred in Munich.

“They understand that when I am on the pitch I have always given my best for the club.

“In Munich on Tuesday I had warmed up and was ready to play. This is not the right time to get into specific details as to why this did not happen. But I wish to state that I never refused to play.

“There was some confusion on the bench and I believe my position may have been misunderstood.

“Going forward I am ready to play when required and to fulfil my obligations.”
