Just hours after Fabrizio Romano confirmed Manchester United‘s interest in Matheus Cunha, reports suggest they are also leading the race for Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap.

The news comes after a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford, a game that further highlighted United’s need for attacking reinforcements.

Following the match, transfer expert Romano revealed that United were leading the race to sign Wolves star Cunha, who has made it clear that he wants to leave the Midlands club this summer. But a new report has revealed that United’s transfer business won’t stop there, as it appears manager Ruben Amorim will completely overhaul his attack when the window opens in June.

Delap a top target

Alongside Cunha, Ipswich Town‘s Liam Delap is perhaps the most exciting Premier League forward prospect that has been linked with a transfer in the summer window. A recent report from The Athletic revealed that over half of Premier League clubs are expected to battle it out for the Englishman’s signature, with United and Chelsea the favorites.

But now, a new report from TEAMtalk has revealed that United a much more likely to sign Delap this summer, with the package that they are offering Ipswich and Delap viewed as ‘far more solid’ by all parties involved.

United’s offer more appealing than Chelsea’s

Meanwhile Chelsea have offered the relegated side a much more staggered deal in terms of payments for the transfer, making United’s deal much more appealing.

Salary is believed to be an important factor for the 22-year-old, who is said to be open to moving to Old Trafford even if United fail to qualify for European soccer next season.

With United currently sitting 14th in the Premier League table, their only hope of playing in Europe next season will be if they can win the Europa League and therefore earn a spot in the Champions League.

Release clause could be key

Should Amorim decide that Delap is a priority signing, then he has the option to trigger the release clause within the English star’s contract that will drop from £40million to £30m if Ipswich are relegated from the Premier League.

Unfortunately for Kieran McKenna’s side, they would have to win all five of their remaining fixtures and rely on West Ham United to completely fall apart if they are to survive the drop this season.

The potential signings of Cunha and Delap would represent a significant investment in Manchester United’s attack, as Ruben Amorim looks to rebuild the team and challenge for honors next season.
