Liverpool Home Shirt for 2015/16 Season From New Balance: Leaked [PHOTOS]

Liverpool’s home shirt for the 2015/16 season is going to generate a lot of discussion, if the new leaked photo below is accurate.

For the 2015/16 season onwards, Liverpool will be wearing New Balance shirts instead of Warrior, according to the Liverpool Echo newspaper. Warrior is a subsidiary of New Balance, and the paper reports that New Balance has a better brand recognition in Asia than Warrior.

As you can see from the above photo, Liverpool’s home shirt features a grid design that differentiates the shirt from previous designs. Plus the Reds home shirt has a retro collar. The contrast between a modern grid design aesthetic and a retro collar is quite distinct.

In other design features, the sleeves on the shirt are red without the grid design aesthetic, while the club’s crest, shirt sponsor and shirt manufacturer logos are all featured in white instead of gold like previous years.

The shirt, meanwhile, features white cuffs.

The New Balance name and logo will take a while to get used to. The brand is more recognizable for sneakers/trainers, cleats/boots and tennis apparel than for soccer merchandise.

First impressions, the Liverpool home shirt from New Balance is a turn off and quite a shock to the system. But after letting time set in, the reason why the first impression is a negative one is because the shirt is quite unlike anything Liverpool has ever worn. Plus, the shirt design is a remix of the Liverpool brand. It’s not traditional, but it’s modern, distinctive and is something that can be worn on the pitch by footballers as well as casually by supporters, which is a progress compared to the Liverpool shirts designed by Warrior.
