It was a huge night of soccer for the United States and Mexico as the fifth edition of the Leagues Cup reached the quarterfinal stage. The much-anticipated clashes between MLS powerhouses and Liga MX giants brought intensity, drama, and goals.

After an action-packed round, the semifinalists are now confirmed, and the race for the trophy has never looked more exciting. Fans from both sides of the border are now counting down to see which team will lift the cup at the end of August.

The semifinal fixtures are officially set, and both games promise electric atmospheres with high stakes on the line:

  • August 27 | 8:30 PM ET | Inter Miami vs. Orlando City | Chase Stadium
  • August 27 | 10:45 PM ET | LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders | Dignity Health Sports Park

Each of these matchups highlights the strength of Major League Soccer, as all four semifinalists come from the U.S. league. Liga MX, which has traditionally dominated the tournament, is now left out of the final stretch. This makes 2025 a potentially historic edition of the Leagues Cup.

Messi’s Miami Leads the Way

The spotlight, of course, falls on Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi, who continues to draw massive crowds and global attention. Facing Orlando City, their Florida rivals, will add another layer of intensity to the semifinal. With Messi, Luis Suárez, and Jordi Alba in form, Miami is seen as a favorite to reach the final. But Orlando has shown resilience throughout the tournament and will be eager to spoil the party at Chase Stadium.

On the other side of the bracket, LA Galaxy will take on the Seattle Sounders, two clubs with rich MLS history. The Galaxy, boosted by new signings and their attacking firepower, are chasing their first major trophy in years. Meanwhile, Seattle, known for their consistency, sees this as another opportunity to confirm their status as one of the top teams in North America.
