Everton Agrees Fee With Manchester City For Jack Rodwell; Reportedly £15million

Manchester City is about to make their first signing of the summer after Everton has agreed to sell midfielder Jack Rodwell to City for an undisclosed fee reported to be £15million.

According to Everton, Rodwell is set to undergo a medical with Manchester City today.

Rodwell made his full Everton debut at the age of just 16 years. The gifted midfielder has long rumored to have been a transfer target for other big Premier League sides including Manchester United. However, Manchester City looks set to secure his signature, which will certainly satisfy Roberto Mancini who has been quite vocal in the press regarding his frustration at how slow and quiet his club has been in the transfer window due to football director Brian Marwood allegedly stalling on several potential deals.

For Everton, the reported £15million will be a tremendous boost to the club’s transfer kitty. Knowing David Moyes, he’ll be able to sign 2-3 players in this transfer window to help strengthen the side.

Meanwhile, for Manchester City, the forthcoming acquisition of Jack Rodwell will boost Manchester City’s depth in midfield. But worryingly for Rodwell, he may spend most of this season on the bench unless there are injury problems for his teammates at City.

What’s your opinion about Everton agreeing a fee with Manchester City for Jack Rodwell? Is this a good move for Everton, City and Rodwell? Share your opinions in the comments section below.
