Robert Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, revealed to Fakt newspaper that the striker turned down a staggering offer from a Saudi Arabian club last summer. The deal reportedly included €100 million per season, but Lewandowski declined, prioritizing his ambition to keep competing with FC Barcelona for major titles. “He wanted to fight for La Liga and the Champions League with Barça, and he almost achieved all those titles,” Zahavi explained.
According to Zahavi, Lewandowski’s decision was driven by personal and professional values, not financial gain. “Robert cares a lot about where he lives, and he is delighted to be in Barcelona and playing for Barça,” the agent said.
He also noted that Saudi clubs are already saturated with foreign players, making it harder to secure roster spots. Nevertheless, Zahavi emphasized that the Polish striker simply did not want to go to Saudi Arabia—even though the option was on the table.
Contract situation and future plans
Lewandowski now has one year left on his contract, which was automatically extended after meeting certain appearance clauses. His current deal expires in June 2026.

The 35-year-old forward still believes he can compete at the highest level and is open to continuing with Barça, but only through mutual agreement. His future will depend heavily on this season’s goal-scoring performance and his physical condition at the end of the campaign.

Barcelona’s striker succession strategy
Despite Lewandowski’s commitment, Barça’s management is preparing for a potential transition. Sporting director Deco is already exploring striker options for 2026, viewing the next center-forward signing as a strategic priority.
The club aims to invest in a striker who can deliver immediate impact and become the team’s long-term goal scorer. Among the names under consideration is Julián Álvarez of Atlético Madrid, though multiple candidates are reportedly on the shortlist.
