Seven days since Comcast Xfinity pulled the plug and removed beIN SPORTS and beIN SPORTS en Español from its programming, there appears to be no resolution in sight to bring the two channels back that have exclusive rights to LaLiga, Ligue 1 and the Turkish Super Lig.
With LaLiga’s new season scheduled to begin on August 17, time is running out for soccer fans to ensure they’re ready in time to watch Spain’s top league.
According to Comcast, “Our contract with beIN SPORTS expired on July 31, 2018. beIN SPORTS is asking for a major increase in fees for the same programming.” In response, beIN SPORTS called Comcast’s bluff by stating, “In fact, beIN offered to extend the agreement with Comcast on existing terms, and Comcast refused.”
It’s this type of annoying back-and-forth between TV providers and networks that is so frustrating as a soccer fan.
And there’s no guarantee that a deal will be reached anytime soon. In a similar carriage dispute between DISH and Univision, both companies have been unable to reach an agreement since June 30. That means that Sling TV customers can’t watch Univision channels. And according to Variety, the dispute could be permanent.
With the beIN SPORTS channels both being blacked out on Comcast Xfinity and Verizon Fios, it’s time to take action by cutting the cord and going with a streaming provider that looks after soccer fans.
