Paramount+ is now the place to stream Italy’s Serie A matches in the United States. Acquiring the Italian top flight is a sign of the company’s ambition to challenge other major sports broadcasters in the near future. “Paramount+ will be the leader in live sports,” CBS Entertainment Group boss George Cheeks recently claimed. “We’re doubling down on soccer on Paramount+. As we look to the future, we are making soccer a core pillar of sports, exclusively available on Paramount+.”

So what is Paramount+ and how do you watch Serie A matches? Let’s find out.

Paramount+ FAQ for Serie A

Q: What is Paramount+?

A: Paramount+ is an over-the-top subscription service featuring both live streaming and on-demand shows/movies. Q: Tell me about live Serie A games on Paramount+

A: Paramount+ secured the American television rights to carry Serie A matches on their streaming service from 2021 up until the end of the 2023/24 season. Fans of the Italian top flight can watch every Serie A league match on Paramount+, as well as 25 Coppa Italia games per year, and the Supercoppa Italiana match (a yearly matchup between the winners of Serie A and Coppa Italia).

Q: When will Paramount+ start streaming Serie A content?

A: Serie A begins their 2021/22 campaign on the weekend of August 22, 2021.

Q: What replays of games will be available on Paramount+?

Q: Will matches be streamed in any other languages?

A: Yes. Paramount+ will offer Serie A matches in English, Italian, and Spanish.

Beginning with the opening weekend of the 2021/22 season, select games will be available in Italian language, with that number expected to grow as the season progresses.

More information will be coming soon regarding Spanish-language commentary.

Q: Will Serie A games be broadcasted on traditional CBS television?

A: It is likely that a few select Serie A matches each season will be broadcasted on local CBS channels; however, exactly which games are to be on traditional television have not yet been released.

Q: For live games on Paramount+, are player controls available to rewind or pause or fast-forward?

A: No. Subscribers do not have the ability to pause, rewind, or fast-forward during live events on Paramount+. However, this is reportedly set to change in the future.

Q: How much is Paramount+?

A: There are two tiers to choose from — an Essential Package with advertising that is $4.99/month, and one that is $9.99/month, which includes everything the ad-supported option has in addition to live access to your local CBS channel.

Q: For the $9.99/month Premium pricing tier, when it says it includes “more live CBS Sports,” is there anything soccer-related that’s not available in the ad-supported $4.99/month tier?

A: No. All live soccer will be available in the $4.99/month tier.

Q: Is there an annual plan available so you can save more money?

Over 50 original series to premiere on Paramount+ over next two years, including Halo, Frasier, Criminal Minds, iCarly, The Real World, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, shows from the Avatar, Yellowstone, Star Trek, and SpongeBob SquarePants universes and more. The growing collection of exclusive originals include The Real World Homecoming: New York, For Heaven’s Sake, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run.

Paramount+ features depth of content across key genres, including 7,000 episodes of kids’ content, 5,000 episodes of reality and 6,000 episodes of comedy.

Marquee sporting leagues and events on the service include the NFL, Masters, PGA TOUR, NCAA, SEC, The PGA Championship and more.

Q: Does Paramount+ offer a free trial?

A: Yes. Paramount+ offers a one week free trial of their streaming service. The company also has a 25% discount for current students.

Q: Streaming is getting so expensive. What recommendations do you have to cut costs?

A: Traditional cable and satellite subscriptions have been expensive for years. Not only are subscribers normally locked into annual contracts, but most people end up paying for channels that they don’t actually watch.

Streaming services such as fuboTV, Sling TV, and YouTube TV certainly help bring costs down; however, there are still issues with paying for content that you don’t necessarily use. For fans that almost strictly watch soccer, we recommend the Soccer Mega Pack, which includes Serie A, Premier League, MLS, La Liga, Champions League, and more all for about $25 per month.
