Chelsea host Manchester United on Sunday with the Blues still looking for the points to climb into the top half of the table after an away draw to Watford in midweek.

Guus Hiddink’s side are still unbeaten since Jose Mourinho left the club last December but three wins and five draws from the last eight league games is hardly inspiring for a club of Chelsea’s stature.

The Blues strolled to a 5-1 win at MK Dons in last weekend’s FA Cup tie but could only muster a 0-0 result at Vicarage Road the following Wednesday which could have been worse after an atrocious first-half performance.

They must now turn their attention to Manchester United who were impressive at home to Stoke City, claiming a 3-0 win which got them back in contention for a Champions League spot. Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney and Jesse Lingard were on the scoresheet in that match and all three are expected to be in the starting XI for this fixture.

Manager Louis van Gaal remains under pressure despite that win especially with Jose Mourinho available and waiting but it’s unlikely the United hierarchy will part ways with the Dutchman before the end of the season.

The Red Devils have struggled against the Blues in recent years with no wins from the last nine meetings between the sides and only one win in 13 visits to Stamford Bridge but they can take heart from the Blue’s underwhelming performances at home this season with only one win from the last five league matches in front of their home supporters.

Team News

Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao will not play a part in this fixture according to Blues boss Hiddink. Alexandre Pato will also not be involved as he undergoes a special pre-season training to get back to full match fitness. Eden Hazard should return to the starting XI for this match while Nemanja Matic is expected to drop to the bench.

For the visitors, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia will miss out of this match, which means youngster Cameron Borthwick-Jackson will continue at left-back while Matteo Darmian retains his place at right-back. Lingard is also expected to keep his place in the side after a decent performance at home to Stoke.
