Two familiar teams, the United States and Mexico also met in the CONCACAF Nations League in 2021. However, that game, hosted in Denver, was in the Final.
In this case, Mexico and the United States are fighting for a chance to play in the final. Both teams finished at the top of their group in League A. However, the United States had the best performance in the group stage with three wins and a draw. Mexico performed the worst of the four teams to advance with two wins and two draws. Therefore, the two play each other in the semifinals, as opposed to the Finals.
