The summer’s marquee event is obviously the World Cup but after the final on July 11 many of Europe’s top clubs kick off their preseason preparations. Many of these clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City and AC Milan, will tour North America playing preseason fixtures.
Last summer, Everton provided the opposition for the MLS All-Star game (this year’s responsibility of Manchester United) and Chelsea took on the Seattle Sounders just to name a few. Many of these games were played in front of sell-out crowds despite their meaninglessness and acted as a gauge of just how much the sport has grown on this side of the pond.
On top of their scheduled MLS coverage Fox Soccer Channel has announced that they will broadcast several of these preseason fixtures. Be sure to stay tuned to EPLtalk.com for full coverage as some of the world’s top teams come to America’s shores.
