Blackpool Shock Liverpool To Give Holloway More Away Day Joy

It’s now three wins away from Bloomfield Road for Holloway’s side, and for a team that many expected to be the whipping boys of the league, their start is nothing short of sensational.

Yes there have been times where Blackpool have looked woefully underequipped. Drubbings at Arsenal and Blackpool were a cruel awakening to the harsh realities of the Premier League.

But in both of these games Holloway stuck to his principles. The likeable boss has always insisted his side would look to attack and entertain, well seven games in they have done just that. Their open ways may have caught them out on both of their visits to the London big-guns, but you have to admire Holloway’s insistence on entertainment.

Attacking football will always bring vulnerability, but it will also bring goals, which in turn can bring unexpected results and more importantly points. It’s now three away wins from five games for Blackpool, a feat that many would have declared impossible before the start of the season.

Holloway admits the defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea may have benefited his side today: “I wanted us to play like that at Chelsea and Arsenal – we learnt from those losses, our game is all about keeping the ball and we stuck at it.”

“It was like a tidal wave coming at us at the end, so I’m just delighted to scrape the win, I’m so proud of the club. Our lads say we are OK away from home but now we need to sort out our home form.”

You have to admire Holloway for keeping his feet on the ground after such a marvellous win and acknowledging that there is still plenty of work to be done. But if Blackpool can keep chipping away at the magic 40 point target like they are, I see no reason why the Seasiders won’t be featuring on EPL Talk this time next year.

Why Tony Pulis Is The Right Man to Replace Ian Holloway as Crystal Palace Manager

If I was Crystal Palace Chairman Steve Parish, there's only one man I would be considering to replace Ian Holloway. Tony Pulis has to be the perfect fit for the club. The Eagles are currently 19th in the Premier League with only 3 points off their first 8 games. That solitary win came against fellow strugglers […]

Crystal Palace and the Premier League Would Lose A Good Manager If Ian Holloway Is Sacked

Much has been made about the reported meeting between Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish and manager Ian Holloway following Monday night’s game at Selhurst Park. Palace suffered a 4-1 defeat to Fulham thanks in large part to two stunning first-half goals from Pajtim Kasami and Steve Sidwell. The Cottagers would later add two second half goals from […]

Charlie Adam Takes On Blackpool

In a worrying development for Ian Holloway and Blackpool, club captain Charlie Adam will take his club to a Premier League arbitration court next week over unpaid bonuses. Adam is set to take the club to court over unpaid payments after the Seasiders avoided relegation from the Championship. While Adam of course is right to […]
