Arsenal are mostly done with their additions to the squad this summer. This, however, could change if the north London outfit were to shed some players from their ever-increasing first-team list. Listed below are five players that manager Unai Emery and company could sell to both fund another transfer target and shift player wages around. While the combined transfer fees of these players may not be astronomical, the reported collective salaries of this quintet would free up around £12.5 million per season.

Joel Campbell

Arsenal most likely won’t receive much of a transfer fee if he were to depart the club; however, Campbell’s reported £60k-per-week salary could be added to Aaron Ramsey’s new contract offer. Lazio, Fenerbahce, and Galatasaray have all been linked with a move for the winger.

David Ospina

With the addition of Bernd Leno, the Gunners now have four first team goalkeepers (including Emi Martinez) and Ospina is thought to be the odd man out. Petr Cech was briefly rumored to be on his way out, but the former Czech Republic international appears set to stay for one more season in north London. It has been reported that Ospina wants to remain in Europe and Napoli are thought to be interested in the keeper.

Chuba Akpom

Still just 22, Akpom can develop into a decent striker and a move away from Arsenal could help this situation. His relatively low wages and age mean that Arsenal should be able to find a suitor fairly easily. A deal with a Premier League team may not come to fruition, but a permanent move to the Championship could be exactly what Akpom needs to get his career back on track.

Danny Welbeck

Not only is he falling further back in the pecking order, but with Lucas Perez returning from loan, Welbeck is now expendable. The highest-paid player on this list, the 27-year-old also makes significantly more money than the aforementioned Perez as well. If a decision comes down to sell either Perez or Welbeck, the England international would make the most sense financially.

Carl Jenkinson

Although he performed fairly well during two seasons on loan at West Ham, a shoulder injury kept him out for much of the 2017/18 campaign with Birmingham City. Now 26, Jenkinson should be playing every week. A Premier League move may be out of the question, but like Akpom, he could do well in the second-tiered Championship.
