Soccer tickets on sale as giants head to United States

soccer tickets on sale

Devoid of any major men’s soccer competition such as the World Cup, Euros, Copa América or Gold Cup, this summer is a rare one for soccer fans. We have the FIFA World Cup in Qatar to thank (or blame) for that. As a result, it means that many footballers have a break this summer. But not for too long because as soon as July 2022 comes around, it promises to be a busy month. So much so that we may as well call it the summer of soccer tickets.

Already, several major clubs have announced summer exhibition games including Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester City. Even Ronaldinho and Roberto Carlos are dusting off their cleats to participate in a legends game. Plus, Colombian giants Deportivo Cali and America De Cali are heading here this summer.

World Soccer Talk has learned that more clubs are making announcements in the next two weeks. Given that the pandemic has triggered pent-up demand among soccer fans, that’s not a surprise.

Here’s what we know so far:

Chelsea tickets:

World Soccer Talk sources understand that Chelsea are in the final stages of confirming a game against Charlotte FC. Buoyed by past crowds of 60,000+ for the International Champions Cup, Charlotte is a proven soccer market. Besides, Charlotte FC’s debut in MLS this season has been impressive. If Chelsea can finalize the details, this promises to be a sell-out.

Chelsea is also participating in the FC Series, the new venture from the organizers of the Florida Cup. The FC Series features Chelsea playing in different cities throughout the United States. Sources tell World Soccer Talk that Chelsea are also finalizing the contract on a friendly to be played in Las Vegas.

Add to that the derby match in Florida between Chelsea and Arsenal, where tickets are already on sale.

This promises to be an exciting summer for Chelsea fans in the United States.

Arsenal tickets:

Coming off a strong season for the Gunners, the club is heading to the United States this summer. It’s something that former manager Arsene Wenger always tried to avoid (he preferred going to Asia). Thankfully, Arteta is sold on the United States, and we’re sold on him.

In addition to Arsenal’s game against Chelsea in Florida, Arsenal plays Orlando City. Depending on timing, the Gunners may try to squeeze another game in before they head back to England.

Man City tickets:

The Citizens are regular visitors to the United States, and this summer won’t be any different. For instance, Man City faces Club América in Houston.

Sources to World Soccer Talk also confirm that Pep Guardiola’s side are close to finalizing a deal to play at Green Bay’s Lambeau Field. The opponent? Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich tickets:

Speaking of the German champions, Bayern Munich plays DC United this July.

Already with the aforementioned match against Manchester City at the home of Green Bay, Bayern München are going big this summer.

Expectations are that this summer will be different than previous. Without any major soccer tournaments, squads will be looking forward to preparing for the new seasons that start in early August. Players should be well rested and ready to accelerate their fitness ahead of the new season. There are international matches in June in the UEFA Nations League. But the understanding is that these games will have very little impact on the July friendlies.
