Cup competitions are a good time to judge a side, the balance, the anti-environment that they find themselves in. But at this point in the season: focus is on balance and finding that balance. Perhaps some managers have dined out on their imbalance for too long, in the league and now they are paying the price? Or perhaps the EPL sides just had too much for many of the lower-league challengers. With such aggressive football being played in the top league, there are many worried about the openness of so many of the games.
