England will look to secure qualification to the knockout phase of the World Cup against the USA, and television coverage is available for those in America.

The USMNT failed to hold onto a priceless victory in their tournament opener. A Gareth Bale penalty kept America limited to a solitary point.

England’s dominant 6-2 victory over Iran put them to the top of Group B. It was a free-flowing performance from the Three Lions which showed they can be more expansive than people realized.

Unlike in 2010, England aren’t a soft-touch and will not present an easy game for the United States. Not for many years has the gulf between the two national teams been this significant. Gareth Southgate’s charges will look to make that show on Friday.

Harry Kane’s fitness concerns have been allayed in the 24 hours prior to kick-off. The English forward will be fit enough to face the American backline.

England look to secure qualification

Results in the opening matchday have made life considerable easier for England.

The Euro 2020 finalists racked up a strong goal difference against Iran. This will likely see them safe with a draw against the USMNT.

However, a victory would mathematically guarantee them a place in the World Cup’s last 16. America, on the other hand, are fighting for their lives after failing to defeat Wales.

Can the USA trouble England? It is difficult to see just where America will be able to penetrate the Three Lions.

Kyle Walker’s return to full fitness may well force Gareth Southgate into switching back to a 5-3-2 formation. Yet, fans will be willing the former Middlesbrough coach to maintain the attacking intent that destroyed Iran.

America’s defense isn’t spectacular. Walker Zimmerman has been the standout performer, but even he made an awful mistake in conceding the penalty to Bale.

The manner in which Gregg Berhalter’s side crumbled under the pressure on Monday was alarming. Once they needed to hold on in the final 15 minutes, they struggled and dropped back.

Doing so against England would be a grave mistake. Raheem Sterling and Bukayo Saka have such raw pace that it would cause problems for the American defense.

Predicted lineups for USA vs England

The United States of America don’t have any fitness or suspension concerns ahead of the game.

England, meanwhile, welcome Kyle Walker back into the squad. Harry Kane will retain his place in the starting XI, especially with Southgate eyeing a rest for his captain if progression is secured before an all-British affair against Wales.

USA’s predicted starting XI (4-3-3): Matt Turner, Antonee Robinson, Tim Ream, Walker Zimmerman, Sergino Dest, Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie, Gio Reyna, Christian Pulisic, Josh Sargent, Tim Weah

England’s predicted starting XI (4-3-3): Jordan Pickford, Kieran Trippier, John Stones, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka
