Milan (AFP) – Igor Tudor will remain as coach of Udinese next season after saving the club from relegation for a second consecutive year, the Serie A side said on Thursday.

The former Croatian international returned to Udinese in March, with the north-eastern side just a point above the relegation zone.

Tudor had already saved them from relegation in 2017-18 with two wins in their last four games, and repeated the feat with five wins in his 11 games back.

The 41-year-old, who was the club’s third coach this season, has signed a contract until the end of the 2019-2020 campaign.

Capped 55 times by Croatia, the former defender played over 100 times for Juventus between 1998 and 2007.

He has also coached Hajduk Split, PAOK and Galatasaray.

Udinese finished the season in 12th position, five points above the relegation zone.
