It’s incredible to see how tight the table is for the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers. Heading into the latest range of matches to be played across January 27-28, eight nations are in contention for a place in Qatar. Argentina and Brazil have already qualified. But only four points separate six nations between Colombia (with 17 points) and Paraguay (with 13). When it comes to the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers CONMEBOL on TV, this could be the hottest ticket to watch during the current international window.

With Argentina and Brazil already qualified for Qatar, that leaves two more places for automatic qualification. Plus there’s a spot in an intercontinental playoff against a team from Asia. In third place, Ecuador is currently sitting pretty with 23 points. But one slip up for Ecuador could open the door for several nations to close the gap.

Venezuela, who are not mathematically out of qualification yet, are still hanging on.

Taking all of that into consideration, the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday and Thursday are promising. Colombia against Peru is the stand-out clash. Paraguay versus Uruguay is a must-win game for both nations. Both Chile and Ecuador face the unenviable task of trying to pick up points against Argentina and Brazil, respectively. However if either Chile or Ecuador can get a draw or win, that’ll certainly help their chances of qualification.

Last but not least, Bolivia travels to Venezuela. If Bolivia wins, that puts them into the pack of the other nations above them.

This week’s games will likely have huge ramifications for the next round of games next week. Not to look too far ahead, but some of next week’s games include Peru versus Ecuador, and Argentina-Colombia, just to name two.
