Boca Juniors have released a rare limited edition version of its home shirt for the 2014 season, to commemorate the team’s 100-year anniversary.

Designed by Nike, the shirt features no sponsor, a unique collar with a thick string, and the date 1913 on the back of the famous blue and yellow Boca Juniors shirt.

The retro shirt is based on the kit design that Boca Juniors wore from 1913-19. The original concept for the design of the shirt was inspired by the colors of the Swedish national flag, which was seen on a ship in the Buenos Aires port.

The confirmation of the Boca Juniors retro kit rules out the recent Liverpool designs as fakes.
