Nottingham Forest and Norwich fans enjoyed a double celebration this weekend as they boosted their promotion chances and secured bragging rights with victories over local rivals Leicester and Ipswich respectively.

 East Anglian Derby

Norwich and Ipswich faced off for the East Anglian Derby with both sides in form with Ipswich continuing a post Roy Keane recovery winning four of their last five games before kickoff. Due to the Easter calendar the game was played on Thursday an unfamiliar day for Championship football but this did not faze the Canaries who ran away with this game winning 5-1.

This will be a bitter pill to swallow for Ipswich fans who will be smarting after resounding defeats in both derby games this season. Victory for Norwich and results elsewhere mean that Paul Lambert’s men are now back in second place with their destiny in their own hands with three games to go.

 East Midlands Derby

Although Nottingham Forest’s closest rivals are arguably Derby, Leicester however are only a short distance down the M1 and there was plenty of fire in this game.

The passion of the fans was matched by the excitement on the pitch as Nottingham Forest led twice only to be pulled back.

However with ten minutes to go before a Chris Weale mistake allowed Paul McKenna’s weak shot to sneak under his body and this time Forest held on to claim a vital victory. This victory and results elsewhere mean that Forest have moved back into the play off places on goal difference, with Leeds and Burnley level with them on 66 points.

Finally spare a thought for the fans whose cars pictured below fell foul of bank holiday parking rules to score a £35 fine that will make this trip to the football very expensive.
