ESPN+ renews Eredivisie rights

Fans of Dutch Eredivisie clubs can breathe a sigh of relief. According to World Soccer Talk sources, the Eredivisie has renewed its US rights deal with ESPN. As things stand, a select number of matches will be available on ESPN+ this weekend. Subsequently, fans can continue watching Eredivisie games all season long exclusively on ESPN+.

Up until now, soccer fans in the United States could not legally watch this season’s Eredivisie. Sources told World Soccer Talk that IMG, the broker selling the rights for Eredivisie, had shopped the package to other broadcasters in the United States. We understand that very little interest was shown, so IMG went back to the table and accepted ESPN’s offer.

IMG’s delay resulted in soccer fans missing the first two weeks of the 2022/23 season. Thankfully, coverage continues this weekend with gameweek three.

Sign up for ESPN+ before the price increase

After we revealed that the rights weren’t renewed on the eve of the 2022/23 season, many fans cancelled their ESPN+ subscription. As a result of the deal being renewed, now is the time to sign up again.

For fans of Dutch soccer, note that the ESPN+ price is increasing from $6.99 to $9.99 on August 23rd. If you do enjoy watching Eredivisie, sign up for an annual plan today for $69.99 per year, which works out to be $5.83 per month.

If you sign up before August 23, you can lock in the annual rate at $69.99 for an entire year, before it increases to $99.99.

In addition to Eredivisie soccer, ESPN+ includes Belgian Pro League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, FA Cup, English League Cup and DFB-Pokal. Plus it offers Championship, League One, League Two, 2 Bundesliga, Liga MX and MLS. ESPN+ also recently renewed its deal for Copa del Rey.

Anticipation building for Eredivisie gameweek 3

After two gameweeks, the top five teams in the Eredivisie standings all have two wins. They are Ajax, PSV, Excelsior, Twente and AZ Alkmaar. On Sunday, August 20, the two games streaming on ESPN+ are Sparta Rotterdam versus Ajax, and RKC Waalwijk against Feyenoord.

On a typical schedule of coverage from ESPN+, the streaming service broadcasts more than 50 professional soccer games every weekend.

If you’re already an ESPN+ monthly subscriber and want to get the annual rate, click here and then select the ‘Get ESPN+’ button (even if you already have it). You’ll be able to log in and then switch to the annual plan.
