Bayern Munich, which was reported to play a fixture against the A-League All Stars, will not be making the trip down to Australia. According to the Daily Mail, Bayern Munich expected to receive more money than the hosts could pull together.

The German giants reportedly asked for $6.7 million to come to Australia and play against the A-League All Stars. This was the only game Bayern Munich was going to play in Australia. However, Australia failed to pool the resources to get Bayern Munich to Australia.

As of now, Bayern is spending its summer in the east. With Australia out of the picture for now, it is only going to Japan and Singapore. This is scheduled for late July, while the All-Star game in Australia would be at the end of May. There was never a set time or date for this game.

Last year, the A-League reignited the All-Star game against European opposition. On May 25, 2022, Accor Stadium in Sydney hosted FC Barcelona. Barcelona won that game, 3-2, in front of over 70,000 fans. That was only the third A-League All Stars game, but it was the first since 2014. The game followed the same format as the MLS All-Star game. This year, the American outfit is playing against Arsenal in Washington, D.C.

Bayern Munich out of Australia

Even though Bayern Munich will not make an appearance down under, it is still on the cards for a trip to Singapore to compete in an exciting preseason competition. Joining Bayern in Singapore are Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and AS Roma. Many of those clubs’ rivals feature on the schedule of summer friendlies in the United States.

Additionally, Bayern Munich will make a stop in Japan. One of its confirmed opponents is Kawasaki Frontale. Clearly, promotion in Asia and the Pacific region is important to the German club. The majority of Bayern’s foreign travels have been to the United States in recent years. That includes a pair of friendlies last season. For instance, Bayern played Erling Haaland and Manchester City in Green Bay, WI.
