Reflections on La Liga Matches

Here are some of my observations from last weekend’s La Liga matches:

Chelsea shouldn’t have a lot to fear in the Champions League with Valencia although the Blues still shouldn’t take the Spanish side lightly. Against Racing Santander, Valencia looked pretty average. And I didn’t think much of the atmosphere at the Mestalla stadium, the fifth largest ground in Spain. It was far from intimidating.

Eighth placed Racing Santander, meanwhile, looked like a great side. Their first goal was top rate with Nikola Zigic knocking the ball down with his head to Pedro Munitis who volleyed the ball superbly into the back of the net (see clip here).

In the other matches I caught, Samuel Eto’o was incredible in the four nil away win by Barcelona over Recreativo Huelva (see clip here) especially the first goal which came out of nothing (and what a swerve).

I also caught the Real Zaragoza 1-0 win against Atletico Madrid (see clip of goal here).
