Joleon Lescott, the 31-year old central defender, was let go by Manchester City but Lescott’s value remains high as up to five clubs are reportedly interested in his services.

If Lescott wants to remain in England, then Aston Villa and West Ham are options. Portland Timbers, meanwhile, can offer consistent playing time. United Arab Emirates side Al Ain may offer the former England international more money than the others, while Schalke in Germany can offer UEFA Champions League soccer to entice him. For a man that helped Manchester City win two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup, it all depends on what role he finds most important at this point in his life and making the best decision for his family.

“As you get older you obviously get more mature and stuff like that and so now I’m consoling with them in every decision. Obviously I didn’t, no disrespect to them, I didn’t really need to ask their approval or consult them when I was moving here [Manchester City]. It was a no-brainer kind of thing but I still feel I can play at this level. I don’t see why I can’t and I believe I can play for City. Unfortunately it’s not gonna happen. The next opportunity may not be as glamorous as this but let’s just say it’s going to be exciting for me and I’ll make sure it’s exciting for me and my family,” said Lescott to Manchester City TV.

Regardless of where he ends up deciding to go, the Birmingham native promises to give it his all. On May 31, he tweeted “Still undecided about my future but questions over my hunger for next season disappoint me. I will never represent a team and give less than 100%.”

In his career, Lescott played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Everton and, of course, Manchester City. His next club will most likely be his last so he must choose wisely and find the club that best fits his goals.
